Monica Magdas Miller is the founder and CEO of Iconoclast Studio Inc. and the Creative Director of Santicler. Born and raised in Romania, Monica learned the quickly-dying and centuries-old technique of hand knitting, embroidery and weaving.  This love of artisan textile tradition, the idea of preservation of tradition and the world in general is the unifying thread that runs throughout her career and inspired her to establish sustainable fashion house Santicler.

Before establishing her own line of clothing, Monica spent the last 15 years building a successful career as a fashion executive and creative director. She graduated from the Academy of Art University with a BA in fashion and an elective in knitwear design. Living in Los Angeles she has worked for various high-profile brands, most recently as a Senior Design Director at BCBG Max Azria, followed by a position as Creative Director and Vice president of CAA/Global Brands.

One of the pioneers and advocates of Slow Fashion and Sustainability, Monica decided to marry her creative intuition with more academic pursuits and will be receiving her executive MBA with a focus on sustainability at Yale’s School of Management.   During her time at Yale, she started Iconoclast Studio, the umbrella to Santicler which seeks to help be a more effective and planet friendly solution to fashion brands looking to manufacture in Europe and oversees.

Once she decided to take it a step further and create her own line of sustainable luxury goods, she was quickly awarded the prestigious Butterfly Mark for positive luxury as brands “to trust” and has quickly become noticed among the fashion elite as an authentic sustainability advocate.  With her beautiful and wearable apparel for real women, the tightly edited collection of basic must-haves, strike a perfect balance between timeless, effortless, versatile and lux.  While the price points vary from accessible to aspirational it is important to note that these pieces last a lifetime in value, style and quality and don’t require dry cleaning or upgrade after a number of wears (read: easy to care for, using nontoxic fabrications from renewable resources, recyclable and biodegradable).

From a young age the idea of “being the change you want to see in the world” had always resonated with Monica.  She is now proud to carry that through her brand vision, company principles, Iconoclast Studio manufacturing practices, and especially into each Santicler piece she makes with thought and love!
